Peter Tschaslis, Mount Vernon, NY Topic: Non-responsive goverment and tow trucks 7:10 pm
Councilman Boxhill - met with him and Brian, a few weeks ago; he was 45 minutes late, and we waited
to address his issue.
Councilman Poteat - has come before with the same compliants and council members have met with
him and are making usre they are making things better for residents.
Councilman Gleason - confirmed with PD that his license was valid.
Geoff Munroe, Mount Vernon, NY Topic: ICE raids 7:14 pm
Councilman Poteat - thank you for coming and telling us what is happening in the community.
regarding the options of the council and city representatives we can’t do much on the federal level. we
are not sure if it was ICE that you saw, but it probably was. what should we do about it? like Obama
says, vote. There are more elections coming up and I will be working to get people out there to register
and vote. That is how I feel.
Councilman Gleason - requested additional information from the speaker on the ICE raids.
Councilman Thompson - cameras deter crime and there is data that shows that it prevents crimes. want
to assure the community that the council is committed to make sure the residents and businesses feel
safe.
Council President Browne - immigration enforcement is by federal government and not local
government and asking us how should we protect our residents. How are we should do that? Munroe - I
do not want to have that dialogue here at this public forum. we need dialogue between the state and the
citizens.
Nicole White, Mount Vernon, NY Topic: Brush Park events and police blocking residents from driving
up to their homes 7:19 pm
Councilman Boxhill - I do see PD block off street, will address with PD
Councilman Poteat - agree with being upset, you are in good hands with Gleason. please stay on top of
council after a month, because next summer these events do not hinder residents accessing their homes
Councilman Gleason - will clarify with PD, have observed that PD will let people in who live on the
block.
Councilman Thompson - I will work with gleason and PD.
Councilman Browne - I don’t think you need a decal, and ID with your address is enough, this might be
an issue of training or having process. perhaps commissioner pickney can share a schedule with
residents.
