City Council:
AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE
CHIEF OF STAFF TO ATTEND THE NATIONAL
LEAGUE OF CITIES ANNUAL SUMMIT IN TAMPA,
FLORIDA FROM NOVEMBER 13 - 16, 2024
Whereas, by letter dated October 23, 2024, the Mayor has requested legislation authorizing the Chief of Staff to attend the National League of Cities Annual Summit in Tampa, Florida, from November 13 to November 16, 2024. Attendance at this conference will provide valuable insights and opportunities to enhance the City's development and governance strategies; and
Whereas, the National League of Cities (NLC) Annual Summit will be held in Tampa, Florida, from November 13 - 16, 2024; and
Whereas, the National League of Cities Summit provides a valuable opportunity for city leaders to network, share best practices, and collaborate on initiatives that promote sustainable urban growth and improve municipal services; and
Whereas, the City of Mount Vernon is a member of the Strong Cities Network, which will sponsor the trip, covering all associated expenses, including transportation, accommodation, and incidentals for the Chief of Staff; and
Whereas, attending the National League of Cities Annual Summit will benefit the City of Mount Vernon by enhancing the Chief of Staff's ability to implement programs, policies, and initiatives that support the City's growth and development, Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved That
The City of Mount Vernon, in City Council convened, does hereby ordain and enact:
Section 1. Authorization to Attend Conference. The City of Mount Vernon's Chief of Staff is authorized to attend the National League of Cities Annual Summit in Tampa, Florida, from November 13 to November 16, 2024. Attendance at this conference will provide valuable insights and opportunities to enhance the City's development and governance strategies.
