RESOLVED, that an ordinance adopted by the City Council on December 13, 2023, and signed by the Mayor on December 14, 2023, authorizing the suspension and enforcement of certain parking meters within the City of Mount Vernon, New York to promote holiday shopping, be and the same is hereby approved.

AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE SUSPENSION
AND ENFORCEMENT OF CERTAIN PARKING
METERS WITHIN THE CITY OF MOUNT VERNON,
NEW YORK TO PROMOTE HOLIDAY SHOPPING
Whereas, by letter dated November 27, 2023, the Interim Commissioner of the Department of Public Safety has requested legislation authorizing the suspension and enforcement of certain parking meters in the municipal parking garages and lots listed below (metered areas only) to promote holiday shopping within the City of Mount Vernon; and
Whereas, the City of Mount Vernon recognizes the importance of supporting local businesses during the holiday season; and
Whereas, the City Council acknowledges the significance of promoting holiday shopping within the community; and
Whereas, the suspension of parking meter enforcement has the potential to encourage residents and visitors to engage in local commerce; Now, therefore, Be It Resolved that
The City of Mount Vernon, in City Council convened, does hereby ordains, and enacts:
Section 1. Purpose. This ordinance is enacted to temporarily suspend the enforcement of parking meters in specified municipal parking garages and lots to encourage holiday shopping within the City of Mount Vernon.
Section 2. Parking Meter Suspension Period. The enforcement of parking meters in the following municipal parking garages and lots shall be suspended during the period from December 11 to December 23, 2023, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.
