AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR
OF THE OFFICE OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT
TO ATTEND THE EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT &
CYBERSECURITY SUMMIT IN SAN JUAN, PUERTO RICO

Whereas, in a letter dated April 15, 2025, the Director of the Office of Emergency Management requested authorization to attend the Emergency Management & Cybersecurity Summit scheduled for May 13, 2025, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, including travel dates from May 12 to May 14, 2025; and

Whereas, the City of Mount Vernon recognizes the importance of ongoing education and training in the fields of emergency management and cybersecurity; and
Whereas, the Emergency Management & Cybersecurity Summit, to be held on May 13, 2025, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, brings together professionals and stakeholders for critical training, knowledge exchange, and strategic collaboration; and
Whereas, the Director of the Office of Emergency Management, Michael A. Montes, has expressed interest in attending the summit as part of the City's effort to enhance emergency preparedness, response capabilities, and cybersecurity readiness; and
Whereas, the total cost for participation, including travel, lodging, and registration, will not exceed One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00), with the registration fee being $149.00; and
Whereas, the associated expenses will be covered through allocated funds from the Office of Emergency Management's budget under the following lines:
* A3640.402 (Travel Expense): $851.00
* A3640.417 (Education/Training): $149.00; and
Whereas, the Common Council finds that this training is in the best interest of the City and directly supports its goals of resilience and preparedness; Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved That
