A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR
TO ATTEND THE NEW YORK CONFERENCE OF
MAYORS (NYCOM) 71ST FALL TRAINING SCHOOL
IN SARATOGA SPRINGS, NEW YORK
WHEREAS, the City of Mount Vernon recognizes the importance of SPRINGScontinuing education, professional development, and the exchange of best practices among municipal officials in furtherance of effective and efficient local government; and
WHEREAS, the New York Conference of Mayors ("NYCOM") will conduct its 71st Fall Training School in Saratoga Springs, New York, from September 14, 2026, through September 18, 2026; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor has requested authorization to attend the NYCOM Fall Training School, which provides more than sixty (60) educational sessions addressing significant issues affecting local governments, including budgeting and fiscal oversight, municipal leadership, legal and regulatory updates, procurement, records management, cybersecurity, and other matters relevant to the administration of the City; and
WHEREAS, attendance at the training school will provide the Mayor with an opportunity to network with other mayors and municipal officials, exchange best practices, and gain knowledge concerning successful programs, policies, and practices being implemented by municipalities throughout New York State; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor has served as a member of the NYCOM Executive Committee for four (4) consecutive years and currently serves on the Women's Advisory Committee; and
WHEREAS, as of January 2026, the Mayor is serving as First Vice President of NYCOM, making participation in the organization's annual Fall Training School particularly relevant to the Mayor's leadership responsibilities and the City's continued engagement with municipalities throughout New York State; and
WHEREAS, the registration fee for member mayors to attend the 2026 NYCOM Fall Training School is Five Hundred Seventy-Five Dollars ($575.00); and
