AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE RELEASE OF
A REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS (RFP) FOR THE
PROCUREMENT OF TECHNOLOGY COMPANIES
TO CONDUCT CITY-WIDE IMAGERY AND LIDAR SCAN
Whereas, by letter dated May 30, 2024, the Commissioner of the Department of Public Works has requested legislation authorizing the release of a Request for Proposals (RFP) for the procurement of technology companies capable of conducting comprehensive city-wide imagery and LIDAR scans; and
Whereas, the City of Mount Vernon seeks to enhance its infrastructure management through the use of advanced technology, including comprehensive city-wide imagery and LIDAR scans; and
Whereas, this initiative aims to assess various infrastructural elements, including pavement conditions, sidewalk conditions, traffic infrastructure and signage, tree inventory, and other critical attributes; and
Whereas, the primary objective of this project is to create a robust data inventory and asset management system that will significantly enhance the City's capability to maintain and improve its infrastructure; and
Whereas, leveraging advanced imaging and LIDAR technology will enable the city to assess and manage its assets accurately, ensuring informed decision-making and efficient resource allocation; and
Whereas, this project is crucial for fulfilling the City's financial match obligations for various grants, such as the USDOT Safe Streets for All (SS4A) and Urban and Community Forestry Grants, thereby maximizing the financial resources available for city projects; and
Whereas, the collected data will also assist in the design and implementation of the City's Complete Streets plan, promoting safer and more accessible transportation infrastructure; Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved That
