A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE FUNDING
OF TRAINING EXPENSES FOR FOUR (4) MEMBERS
OF THE MOUNT VERNON POLICE DEPARTMENT
TO ATTEND THE STREET LEVEL NARCOTICS
OPERATION TRAINING HOSTED BY
THE ROCKLAND COUNTY POLICE ACADEMY
Whereas, by correspondence dated April 20, 2026, the Acting Commissioner / Chief of the Department of Public Safety has requested authorization from the Board of Estimate and Contract to fund the attendance of four (4) Members of Service at the Street Level Narcotics Operation training hosted by the Rockland County Police Academy, located at 50 Sanitarium Road, Building G, Pomona, New York, on June 11, 2026; and
Whereas, the specialized training program will provide officers with enhanced knowledge, investigative techniques, and tactical instruction relating to the identification, monitoring, and enforcement of street-level narcotics activity; and
Whereas, the Department of Public Safety has determined that participation in this training will strengthen departmental operational effectiveness and improve public safety efforts within the City of Mount Vernon; and
Whereas, the necessity for continued officer training and professional development is consistent with the findings and recommendations issued by the United States Department of Justice regarding the Mount Vernon Police Department; and
Whereas, the total cost of the training is Six Hundred Dollars ($600.00), representing a registration fee of One Hundred Fifty Dollars ($150.00) per officer; and
Whereas, authorization is also requested for the use of a department vehicle for transportation to and from the training location, together with reimbursement for gas and toll expenses in an amount not to exceed One Hundred Fifty Dollars ($150.00); and
Whereas, all such expenditures shall be charged to budget line A3120.452 (Training); and
