A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING
THE SETTLEMENT OF THE CLAIM OF
LORNA HARPAUL
WHEREAS, on March 30, 2026, Lorna Harpaul filed a Notice of Claim against the City of Mount Vernon, alleging that her 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer sustained property damage when it was sideswiped by a snowplow operated by an employee of the Department of Public Works. The incident is alleged to have occurred on February 24, 2026; and
WHEREAS, the claimant sought reimbursement for the alleged property damage in the amount of Two Thousand Two Hundred Thirty-One Dollars and Forty-Four Cents ($2,231.44); and
WHEREAS, the Office of the Corporation Counsel investigated and evaluated the claim and, by memorandum dated August 5, 2026, recommended that the Board of Estimate and Contract approve settlement of the claim in the amount of Two Thousand Two Hundred Thirty-One Dollars and Forty-Four Cents ($2,231.44), as a fair and reasonable resolution of the matter; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT
RESOLVED, that the Board of Estimate and Contract of the City of Mount Vernon hereby authorizes the settlement of the claim filed by Lorna Harpaul in the amount of Two Thousand Two Hundred Thirty-One Dollars and Forty-Four Cents ($2,231.44); and be it further
RESOLVED, that the Comptroller is hereby authorized and directed to disburse payment in the amount of Two Thousand Two Hundred Thirty-One Dollars and Forty-Four Cents ($2,231.44) from Budget Code A1930.494 - Judgments and Settlements, as appropriated in the Fiscal Year 2026 Budget, in full and final settlement of this claim
