Board of Estimate and Contract:
RESOLVED, that an ordinance adopted by the City Council on December 13, 2023, and signed by the Mayor on December 14, 2023, authorizing the Mayor to renew the contract with Empress Emergency Medical Service - (until 12/31/2024; fee for services under the renewed contract shall include an annual stipend payment of $590,479.00 to be dispersed in monthly installments of $49,206.58 and allocated from Budget Line A4540.405, be, and the same is hereby approved.

AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR
TO RENEW THE CONTRACT WITH EMPRESS
EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICE
Whereas, by letter dated December 4, 2023, the Commissioner for the Fire Department has requested legislation authorizing the renewal of the contract with Empress Emergency Medical Service for ambulance services until December 31, 2024; and
Whereas, the City Fire Department currently has a contract with Empress Emergency Medical Service for two full-time ambulances, one (1) ALS and one BLS, and one (1) 12-hour part-time BLS ambulance; and
Whereas, the existing contract is set to expire, and the City Fire Department wishes to extend services with Empress EMS until 12/31/2024; and
Whereas, the proposed fee for services includes an annual stipend payment of $590,479.00, to be dispersed in monthly installments of $49,206.58; Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved That
The City of Mount Vernon, in City Council convened, does hereby ordain and enact:
Section 1. Contract Renewal Authorization. The City Council hereby authorizes the renewal of the contract with Empress Emergency Medical Service for ambulance services until December 31, 2024.
Section 2. Service Details.
(a) The renewed contract shall maintain two full-time ambulances, one (1) ALS and one BLS, and one (1) 12-hour part-time BLS ambulance.
(b) The extended services aim to address the high volume of calls from the community for medical assistance.
