A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE

CITY OF MOUNT VERNON, NY, ACKNOWLEDGING THE

APPOINTMENT OF A MEMBER BY THE COMMISSION TO

THE MOUNT VERNON CHARTER REVIEW COMMISSION

 

WHEREAS, Section 268 of the Mount Vernon City Code provides for the appointment of the members of the Charter Review Commission; and

WHEREAS, Section 268 of the City Code states, “A Mount Vernon Charter Review Commission (“Commission”) composed of 15 members shall be appointed, and no later than every 10th year thereafter following the expiration of the term of this Commission, a later separate Commission shall be appointed, as herein provided, to review the existing Charter of the City and recommend revision of or amendment to the Charter to the residents of the City of Mount Vernon"; and

WHEREAS, the purpose of the Charter Review Commission is to review the existing Charter of the City and recommend any necessary revisions or amendments to ensure that the Charter meets the current and future needs of the City and its residents; and

WHEREAS, the following individual has been nominated by the Commission to serve as the 15th member of the Charter Review Commission effective May 9, 2024:

                     Dr. Haley Pilgrim

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT

RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MOUNT VERNON, NEW YORK:

Section 1.                     The City Council acknowledges and approves the Commission’s appointment of Dr. Haley Pilgrim as the 15th member of the Mount Vernon Charter Review Commission, effective May 9, 2024.

Section 2.                     The City Council recognizes the importance of the Charter Review Commission in ensuring that the City Charter remains relevant and effective in addressing the needs of the City and its residents.

Section 3.                     This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its passage and approval of the City Council.
