A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF MOUNT VERNON, NEW YORK,
HONORING THE LIFE AND LEGACY OF
MOTHER CAROLYN P. DAVIS
Whereas, the City Council of the City of Mount Vernon, New York, recognizes and honors the life, legacy, and extraordinary service of Mother Carolyn P. Davis, whose unwavering faith, selfless devotion, and compassionate spirit enriched the lives of countless individuals throughout the Mount Vernon community; and
Whereas, Mother Carolyn P. Davis peacefully entered into eternal rest on July 7, 2026, leaving behind a remarkable legacy of faith, love, integrity, and service to God, her family, her church, and the community she faithfully served; and
Whereas, throughout her life, Mother Davis demonstrated an unwavering commitment to Christian ministry and discipleship through her faithful service at Church of God By Faith, Mount Calvary Apostolic Faith Church, and Allen Memorial Church of God in Christ, where she was revered as a devoted prayer warrior, mentor, encourager, and servant of God whose wisdom, kindness, and steadfast faith positively influenced generations of believers; and
Whereas, in addition to her ministry, Mother Davis dedicated many years of distinguished public service to the residents of Mount Vernon through her employment with the Mount Vernon City School District and the Mount Vernon Housing Authority. She also faithfully served others through her work at Calvary Hospital and as a Licensed Real Estate Agent and Notary Public, consistently demonstrating professionalism, compassion, and a sincere commitment to improving the lives of those around her; and
Whereas, together with her beloved late husband, Elder Oscar Davis, Sr., Mother Davis established a family founded upon the enduring principles of faith, love, compassion, and service, leaving a lasting legacy that continues through her children, grandchildren, extended family, church family, friends, and all whose lives were enriched by her love and guidance; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT
RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Mount Vernon, New York, on this 17th day of July 2026, hereby honors the life and legacy of Mother Carolyn P. Davis and expresses its profound gratitude for her faithful service, exemplary leadership, and immeasurable contributions to the spiritual, civic, and cultural life of the City of Mount Vernon; and BE IT FURTHER
RESOLVED, that the City Council extends its heartfelt sympathy and deepest condolences to the Davis family and all who mourn her passing, while celebrating a life devoted to faith, service, and love. May the enduring example of Mother Carolyn P. Davis continue to inspire present and future generations to serve with humility, compassion, and unwavering commitment to God and community.
