RESOLVED, that an ordinance adopted by the City Council on March 27, 2024, and signed by the Mayor on March 28, 2024, authorizing the Mayor’s attendance at the National League of Cities “Opportunity Solutions Forum” - ($500.00 to be expensed from Budget Code A1210.402, Travel - May 8, 2024), be and the same is hereby approved.

AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR’S
ATTENDANCE AT THE NATIONAL LEAGUE
OF CITIES “OPPORTUNITY SOLUTIONS FORUM”
(May 8, 2024)
Whereas, by letter dated March 18, 2024, the Mayor has requested legislation authorizing the Mayor to attend the National League of Cities “Opportunity Solutions Forum” scheduled for May 8, 2024, in Washington DC; and
Whereas, the City of Mount Vernon acknowledges the importance of participating in conferences and forums aimed at addressing municipal challenges and fostering solutions; and
Whereas, the National League of Cities is hosting the “Opportunity Solutions Forum” on May 8th, providing a valuable platform for municipal leaders to exchange ideas and explore opportunities for addressing community needs; and
Whereas, the Mayor has been invited to attend the “Opportunity Solutions Forum” in Washington DC, recognizing the significance of this event for the City of Mount Vernon; and
Whereas, it is essential to authorize the Mayor's attendance at the forum and allocate funds for travel expenses; Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved That
The City of Mount Vernon, in City Council convened, does hereby ordain, and enact:
Section 1. Authorization for Mayor’s Attendance. The City Council hereby authorizes the Mayor to attend the National League of Cities “Opportunity Solutions Forum” scheduled for May 8, 2024, in Washington DC.
Section 2: Travel Cost. The cost of travel for the Mayor's attendance at the forum shall not exceed $500.00. Reimbursement for travel expenses will be provided by the National League of Cities after the conclusion of the forum.
Section 3. Expense Allocation. The expense for the Mayor’s travel shall be allocated from Budget Code A1210.402 (Travel).
Section 4. Authorization. The Mayor or their designee is authorized to make all necessary arrangements for the Mayor's attendance at the “Opportunity Solutions Forum,” including registration and travel arrangements.
Section 5. Effective Date. This ordinance shall take effect upon its approval by the Board of Estimate & Contract.
