Board Of Estimate & Contract:
RESOLVED, that an ordinance adopted by the City Council on May 22, 2024, and signed by the Mayor on May 23, 2024, authorizing one (1) Member of Service (“MoS”) to attend the Carl Holmes Executive Development Institute (June 3- 7, 2024; $800.53, plus reimbursement of travel and transportation and any additional relevant costs shall be satisfied from Budget Code A3120.451, Training), be and the same is hereby approved.

AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING ONE (1) MEMBER
OF SERVICE (“MOS”) TO ATTEND THE CARL
HOLMES EXECUTIVE DEVELOPMENT INSTITUTE
Whereas, by letter dated May 7, 2024, the Fire Commissioner has requested legislation authorizing one (1) Member of Service (“MoS”) from the Fire Department is hereby authorized to attend the Carl Holmes Executive Development Institute from June 3 - 7, 2024; and
Whereas, the First Administration recognizes the importance of continued professional development for Members of Service (MoS) to enhance their effectiveness and capabilities within the Fire Department; and
Whereas, the Carl Holmes Executive Development Institute offers a curriculum that includes grant writing, the budget process, fire service in high-risk neighborhoods, policy writing for the fire service, and executive-level unified command, all of which are crucial areas pertinent to senior accountants' roles within the organization; and
Whereas, the training provided by the Carl Holmes Executive Development Institute is directly applicable to the responsibilities of the attending MoS and will significantly benefit the Fire Department and the community it serves; and
Whereas, the department requests authorization for reimbursement of travel, transportation, and any additional relevant costs not exceeding $800.00, which will be satisfied from Budget Code A3410.451 (Training); Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved That
The City of Mount Vernon, in City Council convened, does hereby ordain, and enact:
Section 1. Authorization. One (1) Member of Service (MoS) from the Fire Department is hereby authorized to attend the Carl Holmes Executive Development Institute from June 3 - 7, 2024.
Section 2. Funding and Expenses. The total cost of $800.53 shall be satisfied from Budget Code A3120.451 (Training).
Section 2. Reimbursement of Expenses. Authorization is hereby granted for the reimbursement of travel and transportation and any additional relevant costs will be satisfied from Budget Code A3410.451 (Training).
Section 3. Effective Date. This ordinance shall take effect upon its approval by the Board of Estimate & Contract.
