RESOLVED, that an ordinance adopted by the City Council on March 13, 2024, and signed by the Mayor on March 14, 2024, authorizing the Annual Easter Egg Hunt Celebration in Hartley Park (Saturday, March 30, 2024, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., with a rain date of Saturday, April 6, 2024. Funding will be drawn from Budget Code A7620.464), be and the same is hereby approved.

AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING
THE ANNUAL EASTER EGG HUNT
CELEBRATION IN HARTLEY PARK
Whereas, by letter dated March 4, 2024, the Commissioner of the Department of Recreation has requested legislation authorizing said Department to sponsor the Annual Easter Egg Hunt Celebration in Hartley Park on Saturday, March 30, 2024, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., with a rain date of Saturday, April 6, 2024; and
Whereas, the Department of Recreation of the City of Mount Vernon seeks to organize the Annual Easter Egg Hunt Celebration in Hartley Park; and
Whereas, this event has become a cherished tradition in the community, eagerly anticipated by children and families each year; and
Whereas, the Annual Easter Egg Hunt Celebration typically includes various attractions for children, such as face painting, bouncy houses, arts and crafts, and an Easter Egg Hunt on the park's great lawn; and
Whereas, the Department of Recreation intends to allocate funds from Budget Code A7620.464, Cultural Civic Adult Education, with a maximum allocation of $2,500, supplemented by revenue received; Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved That
The City of Mount Vernon, in City Council convened, does hereby ordain, and enact:
Section 1. Authorization of the Annual Easter Egg Hunt Celebration. The City Council hereby authorizes the Department of Recreation to sponsor the Annual Easter Egg Hunt Celebration in Hartley Park on Saturday, March 30, 2024, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., with a rain date of Saturday, April 6, 2024.
Section 2. Event Activities. The Annual Easter Egg Hunt Celebration shall include various activities for children, including but not limited to face painting, bouncy houses, arts and crafts, and an Easter Egg Hunt on the park's great lawn.
Section 3. Funding. Funds for the Annual Easter Egg Hunt Celebration shall be drawn from Budget Code A7620.464, Cultural Civic Adult Education, not to exceed $2,500, supplemented by revenue received from the event.
Section 4. Assistance from City Departments. The Mount Vernon Police Department is requested to have a patrol car in the area and Auxiliary PD in the park as needed during the event. Additionally, the Department of Public Works (DPW) is requested to assist in the clean-up after the event and provide barricades within the park to be placed at the discretion of the event’s leadership on duty.
Section 5. Effective Date. This ordinance shall take effect upon its approval by the Board of Estimate and Contract.
