RESOLVED, that a resolution adopted by the City Council on May 22, 2024, and signed by the Mayor on May 23, 2024, authorizing the Mayor to accept a $75,000 Grant Award from the African American Mayors’ Association (AAMA) - (grant funds will be deposited into Revenue Code 2705, Gifts and Donations and appropriated in the following Budget Codes: A7141.458, Other Expense and A7141.104, Part-Time Salaries), be and the same is hereby approved.

AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR
TO ACCEPT A $75,000 AWARD FROM THE AFRICAN
AMERICAN MAYORS’ ASSOCIATION (AAMA)
Whereas, by letter dated May 15, 2024, the Commissioner of the Department of Recreation has requested legislation authorizing the Mayor to accept a $75,000 award from the African American Mayors’ Association (AAMA) to support the Recreation Department; and
Whereas, the City of Mount Vernon is committed to enhancing the health and well-being of its community; and
Whereas, the African American Mayors’ Association has awarded a $75,000 grant to the City of Mount Vernon under a transformative program to support the Recreation Department; and
Whereas, this one-time payment will be received between January 2024 and December 2027; and
Whereas, these funds will be instrumental in boosting the community's health and well-being through various initiatives led by the Recreation Department; and
Whereas, the grant funds will be deposited into Revenue Code 27051 (Gifts and Donations) and appropriated in A7141.458 (Other Expense) and A7141.104 (Salary); Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved That
The City of Mount Vernon, in City Council convened, does hereby ordain, and enact:
Section 1. Authorization. The City Council hereby authorizes the Mayor to accept a $75,000 award from the African American Mayors’ Association (AAMA) to support the Recreation Department.
Section 2. Grant Allocation. The grant funds will be deposited into Revenue Code 27051 (Gifts and Donations) and appropriated in the following budget codes:
• A7141.458 (Other Expense)
• A7141.104 (Salary)
Section 3. Program Duration. The funds will be utilized by the Recreation Department between January 2024 and December 2027.
Section 4. Effective Date. This ordinance shall take effect upon its approval by the Board of Estimate & Contract.
