A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING ATTENDANCE
AT LAW ENFORCEMENT GRANT WRITING 101
TRAINING COURSE
Whereas, by correspondence dated August 11, 2026, the Acting Commissioner / Chief of the Department of Public Safety requested authorization for two (2) members of service and two (2) civilian staff members of the Department of Public Safety to attend the Law Enforcement Grant Writing 101 Training Course hosted by the Brewster Police Department at the Local 60 Training Center, 50 Prospect Hill Road, Brewster, New York, on September 17 and 18, 2026; and
Whereas, the Department of Public Safety of the City of Mount Vernon has requested authorization for two (2) members of service and two (2) civilian staff members to attend the Law Enforcement Grant Writing 101 Training Course, hosted by the Brewster Police Department at the Local 60 Training Center, located at 50 Prospect Hill Road, Brewster, New York; and
Whereas, the Law Enforcement Grant Writing 101 Training Course will provide specialized instruction designed to strengthen the Department of Public Safety’s ability to identify, develop, prepare, and submit competitive grant applications for state, federal, and other external funding opportunities; and
Whereas, expanding the grant-writing capabilities of Department personnel will enhance the City's ability to secure external funding for critical public safety needs, including essential programs, equipment, technology, and operational initiatives, thereby reducing reliance upon limited municipal resources; and
Whereas, participation in this training constitutes a strategic investment in the professional development of Department personnel and will assist the City in maximizing available funding opportunities while maintaining fiscal responsibility; and
Whereas, the total cost for four (4) attendees is One Thousand Seven Hundred Ninety-Six Dollars ($1,796.00), at a cost of Four Hundred Forty-Nine Dollars ($449.00) per person; and
Whereas, sufficient funds are available in the Department of Public Safety budget, Account A3120.452 (Training), to satisfy the cost of this training; and
Whereas, the Board of Estimate and Contract has reviewed and approved the request prior to its submission to the City Council for consideration; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED:
Section 1. Authorization. The City Council of the City of Mount Vernon hereby authorizes two (2) members of service and two (2) civilian staff members of the Department of Public Safety to attend the Law Enforcement Grant Writing 101 Training Course hosted by the Brewster Police Department at the Local 60 Training Center, 50 Prospect Hill Road, Brewster, New York, on September 17 and 18, 2026.
Section 2. Training Purpose. Attendance at the training is authorized to enhance the Department's grant-writing capacity and increase its ability to identify and secure state, federal, and other external grant funding to support public safety programs, equipment, technology, and operational needs.
Section 3. Expenditure Authorization. The total expenditure authorized pursuant to this Resolution shall not exceed $1,796.00, representing the registration cost of $449.00 per attendee for four (4) attendees.
Section 4. Funding Source. The expenditure authorized herein shall be charged to the Department of Public Safety’s budget line A3120.452 (Training), subject to the availability of appropriated funds.
Section 5. Compliance. All expenditures made pursuant to this Resolution shall be made in accordance with the City's applicable purchasing, procurement, fiscal, and administrative requirements.
Section 6. Effective Date. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption by the Board of Estimate.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the appropriate City officials are hereby authorized to execute any documents and take any action necessary to effectuate the purposes of this Resolution.BOARD OF ESTIMATE AND CONTRACT:
