RESOLVED, that a resolution adopted by the City Council on March 13, 2024, and signed by the Mayor on March 14, 2024, authorizing the amendment of the Fee Schedule for the Department of Buildings in the City of Mount Vernon, be and the same is hereby approved.

AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE
AMENDMENT OF THE FEE SCHEDULE
FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF BUILDINGS
IN THE CITY OF MOUNT VERNON
Whereas, by letter dated February 21, 2024, the Commissioner of the Department of Buildings has requested legislation authorizing an amendment to the Fee Schedule for said Department; and
Whereas, the fee schedule for the Department of Buildings of the City of Mount Vernon was last updated in February 2022; and
Whereas, the city’s growing population necessitates the maintenance of infrastructure and the fulfillment of financial obligations to ensure the city’s economic prosperity and the quality of life for its residents; and
Whereas, it is imperative to update the fee schedule to reflect the changing needs and demands within the city; and
Whereas, the Department of Buildings has identified the need to adjust fees for certain services provided to residents and businesses within the City; Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved That
The City of Mount Vernon, in City Council convened, does hereby ordain, and enact:
Section 1. Yearly Inspection for Place of Assembly. To ensure the health, safety, and welfare of large crowds attending events, the Department of Buildings shall conduct yearly inspections for places of assembly. The Department of Buildings shall impose the following fees for the inspection and certification of temporary places of assembly:
• For yearly inspection, for an application received less than 10 business days before the scheduled event:………. $150.00
• Renewal of the Occupancy Sign: …………………. $100.00
Section 2. Unified Solar Permit Application Fee. Due to the increasing demand for solar panels and solar companies marketing to the community, the Department of Buildings shall adopt a “Unified Solar Permit” fee. The fees for the Unified Solar Permit application shall be as follows:
• Filing fee plus:…………………………………… $150.00
• Completion fee:……………………………….…. $125.00
• For all buildings, except existing one- and
two-family dwellings: .………………………… $600.00
• For work on existing one and two-family dwellings: $400.00
Section 3. Receipt of Fees. Upon receipt, the funds received for the proposed fees shall be deposited into the following accounts:
• A.1560 - Safety Inspections (D.O.B)
• A.1561 - Safety Inspections (MVFD)
• A.2555 - EQP/BLD Unified Solar (D.O.B)
Section 4. Effective Date. This ordinance shall take effect upon its approval by the Board of Estimate and Contract.
