RESOLVED, that an ordinance adopted by the City Council on February 14, 2024, and signed by the Mayor on February 15, 2024, authorizing the Planning Commissioner to travel to Minneapolis, MN to attend the 2024 American Planning Association National Conference (from April 12-17, 2024; $2,377.33 to be satisfied in Budget Line A8020.423 (Conference Expense), be and the same is hereby approved.

AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE PLANNING
COMMISSIONER TO TRAVEL TO MINNEAPOLIS, MN
TO ATTEND THE 2024 AMERICAN PLANNING
ASSOCIATION NATIONAL CONFERENCE
Whereas, by letter dated January 23, 2024, the Commissioner of the Department of Planning has requested legislation authorizing him to travel to Minneapolis, MN, to attend the 2024 American Planning Association National Conference from April 12-17, 2024; and
Whereas, the American Planning Association (“APA”) hosts an annual conference to provide educational, training, and networking opportunities for urban, city, and regional planners nationwide; and
Whereas, attendance at the APA National Conference allows for the acquisition of certification maintenance credits necessary for the Planning Commissioner's certification maintenance requirements; and
Whereas, the Planning Commissioner’s attendance at the 2024 APA National Conference in Minneapolis, MN, presents opportunities for professional development and networking beneficial to the City of Mount Vernon's planning, organizational capacity, design, and development efforts; Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved That
The City of Mount Vernon, in City Council convened, does hereby ordain and enact:
Section 1. Travel Authorization. The Planning Commissioner is hereby authorized to travel to Minneapolis, MN, to attend the 2024 American Planning Association National Conference from April 12-17, 2024.
Section 2. Expenses. The following expenses are authorized for reimbursement from Budget Line A8020.423 (Conference Expense):
1. Hilton Minneapolis - Headquarters Hotel: - $1,340.12
2. APA National Conference Registration: - $785.00
3. Air Travel LGA to MSP: - $252.21, totaling $2,377.33
Section 3. Funding. The total expenses for the conference shall not exceed the budgeted amount of $5,000.00 allocated in Budget Line A8020.423. The remaining balance after expenses shall be $2,622.67 for the current fiscal year.
Section 4. Effective Date. This ordinance shall take effect upon its approval by the Board of Estimate & Contract.
