RESOLVED, that a resolution adopted by the City Council on March 13, 2024, and signed by the Mayor on March 14, 2024, authorizing the title Conversion of Motor Equipment Operators to Motor Equipment Operators - Sanitation, be and the same is hereby approved.

AN ORDINANCE TO ESTABLISH THE TITLE
CONVERSION OF MOTOR EQUIPMENT OPERATORS
TO MOTOR EQUIPMENT OPERATORS - SANITATION
Whereas, by letter dated March 5, 2024, the Commissioner for the Department of Public Works has requested legislation authorizing the Request for Proposals (RFP) for an Audio-Visual solution for the City Council chambers and the Committee Room; and
Whereas, the City of Mount Vernon recognizes the need for fairness and equity in compensating Motor Equipment Operators (MEOs) engaged in sanitation duties; and
Whereas, there exists a disparity in compensation between MEOs and MEOs specializing in sanitation work due to exclusive annual stipend compensation; and
Whereas, Civil Service has approved the amended job specifications for the newly established title of “Motor Equipment Operators - Sanitation (MEO-S)” as of February 21, 2024; Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved That
The City of Mount Vernon, in City Council convened, does hereby ordain, and enact:
Section 1. Title Conversion. Nine (9) Motor Equipment Operators (MEOs) shall be converted to the new title of “Motor Equipment Operators - Sanitation (MEO-S)” to reflect their specialized work-related sanitation duties.
Section 2. Salary and Grade Adjustment. The salary and grade adjustment for the new title of Motor Equipment Operator-Sanitation (MEO-S) shall be as follows:

Section 3. Funding. Funding for this title amendment in the amount of $13,500 shall be sourced from Budget Code A8160.101 (D.P.W. - Sanitation, Salaries and Wages).
Section 4. Effective Date. This ordinance shall take effect upon its approval by the Board of Estimate & Contract.
