RESOLVED, that an ordinance adopted by the City Council on March 27, 2024, and signed by the Mayor on March 28, 2024, authorizing the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the Westchester County Youth Bureau and New York State Office of Children and Family Services to Fund a Fun-Filled Summer (grant amount: $8,837.00 for the contract period July 1, 2024 - August 31, 2024), be and the same is hereby approved.

AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR
TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE
WESTCHESTER COUNTY YOUTH BUREAU AND NEW
YORK STATE OFFICE OF CHILDREN AND FAMILY
SERVICES TO FUND A FUN-FILLED SUMMER GRANT
Whereas, by letter dated March 12, 2024, the Commissioner of the Department of Recreation has requested legislation authorizing the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the Westchester County Youth Bureau and the New York State Office of Children and Family Services to fund a Fun-Filled Summer Grant for $8,837.00; and
Whereas, the City of Mount Vernon acknowledges the importance of providing recreational opportunities for its residents, especially during the summer months; and
Whereas, the Department of Recreation has identified an opportunity to fund a Fun-Filled Summer Grant in collaboration with the Westchester County Youth Bureau and the New York State Office of Children and Family Services; and
Whereas, it is essential to enter into an agreement to secure funding for the Fun-Filled Summer Grant program; Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved That
The City of Mount Vernon, in City Council convened, does hereby ordain, and enact:
Section 1. Authorization for Agreement. The City Council hereby authorizes the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the Westchester County Youth Bureau and the New York State Office of Children and Family Services to fund a Fun-Filled Summer Grant for $8,837.00.
Section 2. Program Details. The Fun-Filled Summer (Park Activation Program) will be conducted by the City of Mount Vernon Recreation Department from July 1, 2024, to August 31, 2024. The program will run from Monday through Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at various parks throughout Mount Vernon.
Section 3. Funding Allocation. The funds received under this agreement, totaling $8,837.00, shall be deposited into Revenue Account A2229.15 (Westchester County-funded recreation grants). These funds shall be appropriated as follows:
• A7310.104 (Youth program salary - part-time)
• A7310.458 (Equipment, trips, guest speakers, and supplies)
Section 4. Execution of Agreement. The Mayor or their designee is authorized to execute all necessary documents and agreements to accept and administer the Fun-Filled Summer Grant in accordance with the terms and conditions set forth by the Westchester County Youth Bureau and the New York State Office of Children and Family Services.
Section 5. Effective Date. This ordinance shall take effect upon its approval by the Board of Estimate & Contract.
