RESOLVED, that an ordinance adopted by the City Council on May 22, 2024, and signed by the Mayor on May 23, 2024, authorizing the Recreation Department to sponsor the Summer Outdoor Movie Series - (every Monday from the beginning of July until the end of August, with rain dates scheduled for the Wednesday of the same week - 2024 series not to exceed $10,000.00, which will be allocated from Budget Code A7620.464), be and the same is hereby approved.

AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE
RECREATION DEPARTMENT TO SPONSOR
THE SUMMER OUTDOOR MOVIE SERIES
Whereas, by letter dated May 12, 2024, the Commissioner for the Department of Recreation has requested legislation authorizing said Department to sponsor the Summer Outdoor Movie Series, scheduled to take place every Monday from the beginning of July until the end of August, with rain dates scheduled for the Wednesday of the same week. The events will be held at one of the following locations: the Doles Center Green, Fleetwood Playground, Hartley Park, or Memorial Field; and
Whereas, the City of Mount Vernon recognizes the importance of providing free, family-friendly entertainment to its residents; and
Whereas, the Recreation Department proposes to sponsor a Summer Outdoor Movie Series, offering age-appropriate movies for the entire family; and
Whereas, the movie series will take place every Monday from the beginning of July until the end of August, with rain dates scheduled for the Wednesday of the same week; and
Whereas, the designated locations for the movie series include the Doles Center Green, Fleetwood Playground, Hartley Park, or Memorial Field; and
Whereas, the total cost for the Summer Outdoor Movie Series is $10,000.00, which will be allocated from Budget Code A7620.464; and
Whereas, the Recreation Department requests the Auxiliary Police patrol the event as needed to ensure the safety and security of all attendees; Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved That
The City of Mount Vernon, in City Council convened, does hereby ordain, and enact:
Section 1. Authorization. The Recreation Department is hereby authorized to sponsor the Summer Outdoor Movie Series, scheduled to take place every Monday from the beginning of July until the end of August, with rain dates scheduled for the Wednesday of the same week. The events will be held at one of the following locations: the Doles Center Green, Fleetwood Playground, Hartley Park, or Memorial Field.
Section 2. Funding Allocation. The total cost of $10,000.00 for the Summer Outdoor Movie Series shall be allocated from Budget Code A7620.464.
Section 3: Auxiliary Police Patrol. Auxiliary Police are requested to patrol the event as needed to ensure the safety and security of all attendees.
Section 4. Effective Date. This ordinance shall take effect upon its approval by the Board of Estimate & Contract.
