AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE
PURCHASE OF MOTOROLA EDGE DEVICES
FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY
Whereas, by letter dated December 3, 2024, the Commissioner of the Department of Public Safety has requested legislation authorizing the purchase of fifty (50) Motorola Edge devices from Motorola Solutions for the Department of Public Safety; and
Whereas, the Department of Public Safety is committed to enhancing public safety and reducing crime through innovative technology solutions; and
Whereas, the City of Mount Vernon, in collaboration with the Industrial Development Agency, seeks to provide small business owners with Motorola Edge devices that enable real-time surveillance and direct video feedback to the AWARE Command Center at the Mount Vernon Police Department headquarters; and
Whereas, Motorola Solutions, under New York State Contract Number PT68833, will provide and install these devices at no cost to the participating businesses, furthering the City's efforts to support small businesses and strengthen community safety; and
Whereas, the purchase of fifty (50) Motorola Edge devices will be funded through ARPA budget allocations dedicated to Small Business Development and Violence Prevention; Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved That
The City of Mount Vernon, in City Council convened, does hereby ordain and enact:
Section 1. Authorization to Purchase. The City Department of Public Safety is authorized to purchase fifty (50) Motorola Edge devices from Motorola Solutions for the Department of Public Safety.
Section 2. Funding Allocation. The funding for this purchase shall be allocated as follows:

Section 3. Purpose and Use.
1. The Motorola Edge devices will enable small business owners to connect up to 30 surveillance cameras per device for real-time video feedback transmission to the AWARE Command Center.
2. This initiative supports crime reduction and public safety efforts by enhancing law enforcement's access to surveillance in business establishments.
Section 4. Installation and Vendor Compliance. Motorola Solutions shall provide device installation services at no additional cost to the participating businesses. The purchase will be made under New York State Contract Number PT68833.
Section 5. Effective Date. This ordinance shall take effect immediately upon its adoption and approval by the Board of Estimate & Contract.
