RESOLVED, that an ordinance adopted by the City Council on May 22, 2024, and signed by the Mayor on May 23, 2024, authorizing the Recreation Department to sponsor the Summer Breeze Outdoor Concert Series- (every Tuesday on the Steps of City Hall beginning the first week of July until the last week of August, with rain dates scheduled for Thursday of the same week. The 2024 concert series is estimated to cost $20,000 and shall be allocated from Budget Code A7620.457), be and the same is hereby approved.

AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE
RECREATION DEPARTMENT TO SPONSOR THE
SUMMER BREEZE OUTDOOR CONCERT SERIES
Whereas, by letter dated May 12, 2024, the Commissioner for the Department of Recreation has requested legislation authorizing said Department to sponsor the Summer Breeze Outdoor Concert Series, to take place every Tuesday on the Steps of City Hall from the first week of July until the last week of August, with rain dates scheduled for the Thursday of the same week; and
Whereas, the City of Mount Vernon recognizes the importance of providing community events that promote cultural enrichment, family-friendly entertainment, and community engagement; and
Whereas, the Recreation Department has proposed the Summer Breeze Outdoor Concert Series to take place annually, beginning the first week of July and ending the last week of August, providing age-appropriate entertainment every Tuesday on the Steps of City Hall, with a rain date on the Thursday of the same week; and
Whereas, the establishment of the Summer Breeze Outdoor Concert Series in perpetuity will offer residents and visitors a consistent, enjoyable cultural experience; and
Whereas, the cost for the 2024 concert series is estimated to be $20,000, which will be allocated from Budget Code A7620.457; and
Whereas, the Recreation Department requests the Auxiliary Police patrol the event as needed to ensure the safety and security of all attendees; Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved That
The City of Mount Vernon, in City Council convened, does hereby ordain, and enact:
Section 1. Authorization. The Recreation Department is hereby authorized to sponsor the Summer Breeze Outdoor Concert Series, which will begin the first week of July and end the last week of August each year, providing age-appropriate entertainment every Tuesday on the Steps of City Hall, with a rain date on the Thursday of the same week. This event is to be held in perpetuity.
Section 2. Funding Allocation. The total cost of $20,000.00 for the 2024 Summer Breeze Outdoor Concert Series shall be allocated from Budget Code A7620.457.
Section 3. Auxiliary Police Patrol. The Auxiliary Police are requested to patrol the event as needed to ensure the safety and security of all attendees.
Section 4. Effective Date. This ordinance shall take effect upon its approval by the Board of Estimate & Contract.
