A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING
THE SETTLEMENT OF THE CLAIM OF
STEPHEN BOWEN
WHEREAS, on March 4, 2026, Stephen Bowen filed a claim against the City of Mount Vernon alleging that his 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan sustained property damage on February 6, 2026, when it was legally parked and was struck by a City-owned snowplow, causing substantial rear-end damage and forcing the vehicle into another parked vehicle, resulting in additional front-end damage; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Bowen seeks reimbursement for the alleged damages in the amount of Six Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($6,500.00); and
WHEREAS, upon review and evaluation of the claim, the Corporation Counsel, by correspondence dated June 1, 2026, recommended that the Board of Estimate and Contract approve a settlement in the amount of $3,300.00.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT
RESOLVED, that the Board of Estimate and Contract hereby authorizes the settlement of the claim filed by Stephen Bowen in the amount of $3,300.00; and be it further
RESOLVED, that the Comptroller is hereby authorized and directed to disburse payment in the amount of $3,300.00 from Budget Code A1930.494 (Judgments and Settlements) in the 2026 Budget.
