City Council:
A RESOLUTION APPOINTING TWO (2) MEMBERS
OF THE CITY COUNCIL TO THE ECONOMIC
DEVELOPMENT TASK FORCE PURSUANT TO
CHAPTER 24, SECTION 24-7 OF THE CODE
OF THE CITY OF MOUNT VERNON
WHEREAS, Chapter 24, Section 24-7 of the Code of the City of Mount Vernon establishes the Economic Development Task Force and provides for the appointment of two (2) members of the City Council to serve thereon; and
WHEREAS, Section 24-7 further provides that such appointments shall be made by the City Council for staggered terms of two (2) years, with one Councilmember's term expiring in an even-numbered year and the other Councilmember's term expiring in an odd-numbered year; and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to make the appointments necessary to ensure the continued operation of the Economic Development Task Force and compliance with the requirements of the City Code; and
WHEREAS, Section 22-4 of the Code of the City of Mount Vernon authorizes the appointment of members to shorter initial terms when necessary to establish the required staggered schedule of appointments;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Mount Vernon, New York, as follows:
Section 1. Appointment of Councilmember Cathlin Gleason. Councilmember Cathlin Gleason is hereby appointed to serve as a member of the Economic Development Task Force for a term commencing June 10, 2026, and expiring June 10, 2028.
Section 2. Appointment of Councilmember Cynthia Turnquest-Jones. Councilmember Cynthia Turnquest-Jones is hereby appointed to serve as a member of the Economic Development Task Force for an initial term commencing June 10, 2026, and expiring June 10, 2027, pursuant to Section 22-4 of the Code of the City of Mount Vernon, for the purpose of establishing the required staggered terms of office.
Section 3. Effective Date. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption by the City Council.
