A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MOUNT VERNON, NEW YORK RECOGNIZING AND
CELEBRATING REVEREND DR. JEFFERY R. WHEELER
Whereas, Rev. Dr. Jeffery R. Wheeler was born and raised in Mount Vernon, NY to Edith and Thomas Wheeler; and
Whereas, accepted his calling to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and received his license to minister in 1998, and was ordained in 1999 at the Hunter Hills First Baptist Church in Atlanta, GA. He later relocated back to New York in 2006, and was consecrated and elevated to the office of Ordained Traveling Elder in the New York-Washington Annual Conference of the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church; and
Whereas, Rev. Dr. Jeffery R. Wheeler has contributed to the enhancement of the worship experience at Unity Baptist Tabernacle Church through his teaching, preaching, prayer, praise, worship, and commitment to the community; and
Whereas, Rev. Dr. Jeffery R. Wheeler's life journey has been characterized by academic excellence, earning a Bachelor's Degree in political science from Manhattanville College, a Masters of Divinity Degree from New York Theological Seminary, a second Master's Degree in Sacred Theology from Union Theological Seminary at Columbia University, and a Doctorate of Ministry Degree from Duke University Divinity School; and
Whereas, Rev. Dr. Jeffery R. Wheeler returned to Mount Vernon, NY in 2011 and became the Senior Pastor of his childhood church, the Mount Calvary Christian Methodist Episcopal Church. Dr. Wheeler is an accomplished theological scholar and a dedicated community leader. He earned his Master of Religious Studies degree from Yale University Extension, Nyack NY, and a Master of Theology degree from Hugee Theological Institute. He continued to expand his biblical knowledge further and earned a Doctorate in Divinity degree from the New York Lighthouse Christian College & Seminary.
