City Council:
An Ordinance SETTING the FEES FOR THE
New York State Unified Solar Permit
Whereas, by letter dated February 8, 2024, the Commissioner of the Department of Buildings has requested legislation authorizing the fees for the New York State Unified Solar Permit; and
Whereas, the City of Mount Vernon recognizes the importance of promoting renewable energy sources such as solar power; Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved That
The City of Mount Vernon, in City Council convened, does hereby ordain, and enact:
Section 1. Adoption of Unified Solar Permit Fees. The City of Mount Vernon hereby authorizes the fees for the New York State Unified Solar Permit.
Section 2. Fee Structure. The fee for the Unified Solar Permit fees shall be determined as follows:
• The unified solar permit fee for residential projects shall be $400.00;
• The unified solar permit fee for commercial projects shall be $600.00;
• Electrical permit application fees and inspection fees shall be charged separately and are not included in the Unified Solar Permit fee.
Section 3. Effective Date. This ordinance shall take effect upon its approval by the Board of Estimate and Contract.
