RESOLVED, that an ordinance adopted by the City Council on January 24, 2024, and signed by the Mayor on January 25, 2024, authorizing the Department of Public Safety to accept a one-time gift from American Christmas ($2,500.00), be and the same is hereby approved.

AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE
DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY TO
ACCEPT A GIFT FROM AMERICAN CHRISTMAS
Whereas, by letter dated January 18, 2024, the Interim Commissioner of the Department of Public Safety has requested legislation authorizing the acceptance of a one-time gift in the amount of $2,500 from American Christmas; and
Whereas, the City of Mount Vernon recognizes the value of fostering partnerships with local businesses to enhance community well-being; and
Whereas, American Christmas, a Mount Vernon-based company, has generously offered a one-time gift to the Mount Vernon Police Department in the amount of $2,500; and
Whereas, this gift will contribute to the improvement of public safety efforts within the community; Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved That
The City of Mount Vernon, in City Council convened, does hereby ordain, and enact.
Section 1. Acceptance of Gift from American Christmas
(a) The City of Mount Vernon is hereby authorized to accept a one-time gift in the amount of $2,500 from American Christmas.
(b) Upon receipt, the funds will be deposited into Budget Line A2705.1 (Gifts and Donations).
Section 2. Fund Transfer. The funds received from American Christmas shall be transferred to the Department's Budget Line A3120.458 (Other Expense) to support public safety initiatives.
Section 3. Purpose and Intent. The purpose of this ordinance is to formalize the acceptance of a one-time gift from American Christmas, which will contribute to the Department of Public Safety's efforts to enhance public safety in Mount Vernon.
