RESOLVED, that an ordinance adopted by the City Council on January 24, 2024, and signed by the Mayor on January 25, 2024, authorizing the extension of the Service Contract for African American Civil Rights Study (with Dr. Larry Spruill for the National Park Service from October 1, 2023, to December 31, 2023), be and the same is hereby approved.

AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE EXTENSION
OF THE SERVICE CONTRACT FOR AFRICAN
AMERICAN CIVIL RIGHTS STUDY
Whereas, by letter dated January 15, 2024, the Deputy Commissioner for the Department of Planning and Community Development has requested legislation authorizing the Mayor to retroactively extend the service contract with Dr. Larry Spruill for the National Parks Service African American Civil Rights Study from October 1, 2023, to December 31, 2023; and
Whereas, the City of Mount Vernon has received a grant from the National Parks Service for the African American Civil Rights Study; and
Whereas, Dr. Larry Spruill is the primary consultant responsible for creating deliverables specified in the grant; and
Whereas, the National Parks Service has retroactively extended the grant period from October 1, 2023, to December 31, 2023; and
Whereas, extending the contract with Dr. Spruill will not result in additional costs to the City; and
Whereas, this contract requires the expenditure of City funds from the Planning and Community Development Department's Contracted Outside Services expenditure code A8020.405, with reimbursement from the African American Civil Rights Grant; Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved That
The City of Mount Vernon, in City Council convened, hereby ordains, and enacts:
